Hey, my name's Mike. Nice to meet you and all, welcome to my webpage!
What is the point of this whole thing? I made this up mostly to show friends my photos, lugging around a slide projector is not the most convenient way of doing things after all. Knowing how the internet works, who knows may stumble across my photography! It's also a fun way to kill some lazy time. Everyone has a webpage these days and if I'm going to do one it'll be done my way, my design and no bullshit ads.
As you should have figured out by now, photography is far and away my favourite hobby. When I'm not shooting for my own amusement, I am on assignment for The Gateway, the University of Alberta's newspaper.
I've been at this photography thing for quite a few years now, I started way back in grade 10 when I took communication and design class. We developed our own film in the darkroom and did printing and all that jazz. Nowadays I shoot mostly colour slide film for my own purposes since I don't have regular access to a darkroom, and because I find it ridiculously hard to get even halfway competent printing done from colour negative film.
I use mostly 35mm Minolta AF SLR gear, just because that's what my parents happened to buy me for a birthday/grad present. I also have this nifty old rangefinder and a partially melted Diana toy camera. Don't ask.

This page was created in TextEdit the hard way. I taught myself HTML a while back, CSS after that, and PHP just last year. Not too shabby! I try to check things before I upload but if you think something looks really screwed up email me and give me the details (what page, browser, etc.). Thanks.
I'm hosted by 2mhost.com. They seem pretty good so far, hosting was $2/month plus $8/yr for the domain name. They were nice enough to give me three months free after the whole Homeland Security debacle.
